International Women’s Peace Conference
Women’s Peace Leadership toward Hope and Recovery
This conference opens by presenting a broad perspective on how women’s leadership can make peace possible in times of conflict and crisis. It then examines the significance of women’s leadership within key agendas and policy discourses of the international community, and explores current challenges and visions for peacebuilding through real cases where women have actively transformed their communities at the regional and grassroots levels. The 1st session concludes by highlighting the importance of institutionalization, civil society initiatives, and education to ensure that our collective efforts do not remain temporary but contribute to building sustainable peace.
The 2nd session focuses particularly on peace education. It addresses how governments and states can approach and promote peace education, and how such education can bring about tangible changes in local communities and on the ground. This discussion is illustrated by the case of Mongolia, where IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education has been implemented in practice, enabling women to take their place as key actors for peace across various cases. Through this, we reaffirm that peace education serves as a foundation for sustainable peace.
